What is Serum?

 Serum

What is serum? Face serums designed to do just one thing: deliver skincare ingredients to the surface of your skin as efficiently as possible, making them potentially more powerful than other formulas with the same active ingredients. So, before we wax on about the wonders of face serums let’s start with basics: Face serums are lightweight formulations that contain a higher concentration of active ingredients — like retinol, green apple stem cell, hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid, copper peptide, and vitamin C — than typical facial moisturizers that can be applied to your skin directly. Known for their effectiveness, face serums are often used to manage specific skincare concerns, such as acne (large and clogged pores), anti-aging, dark circles, dark spots and hyperpigmentation, dehydration, dull skin, fine lines, puffiness (eye bags), uneven skin tone and wrinkles. Serums will also typically be thinner than a moisturizer, which makes them perfect for layering, and they can come in a variety of different formulas, — They are usually clear, gel-based, oils and liquid. They can even have water-like consistency in some cases. Serums are designed to hydrate, protect and nourish your skin and weed out several skin concerns. Serum is a skincare product you can apply to your skin after cleansing and toning but right before moisturizing with the intent of delivering powerful ingredients directly into the skin. Serum is particularly suited to this task because it is made up of smaller molecules that can penetrate deeply into the skin and deliver a very high concentration of active ingredients. This makes them a great tool for targeting any specific skincare concerns, like wrinkles and fine lines.
